Reebok launches environmentally friendly sports shoes: 75% of raw materials come from “cotton, corn and glutinous rice”

American sports brand Reebok launched the "Cotton + Corn" sustainable product program last year to produce sporty products with more environmentally friendly natural materials.

The first product in the program, NPC UK Cotton + Corn sneakers, is available in 100% cotton and corn, and the insole is derived from castor oil and is 100% recyclable. package.

Bill McInnis, head of the Reebok Future team, which is responsible for creating new technologies, ideas and product models for Reebok, said: "The world produces 20 billion pairs of sneakers every year. Most sports shoes use synthetic rubber and foam from petroleum-based materials. Made of cushioning system, this is not a sustainable way of making shoes. At Reebok, we want to use plant materials instead of petroleum-based materials to produce sports shoes. In the "Cotton + Corn" program, Reebok partnered with leading high performance biomaterials solutions provider DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products to develop Susterra® propylene glycol materials for the sole. This is a pure, petroleum-free, non-toxic material made from corn in the field and 100% certified by the USDA. According to Bill McInnis, NPC UK Cotton + Corn sneakers are the only footwear on the market that has been certified by the USDA to contain 75% biomaterials.
